I drew random people in Brick Lane’s Sunday flea market - every person was different. I tried to question how we identify individuals in a crowd.
In the 90’s when first arrived in London I used to go to Brick Lane market to find quirky objects and interesting materials and did not see many other visitors. These days you can spot tourists from all over the world visiting the market.
This work was completed in 2006, a year after London won the Olympics bid and the terrorist bombings the day after it was announced, I wanted to show people together as being a positive and indiscriminate force.
